Tom Keating on Master Painting
196/365
Today we take a look at an artist, Tom Keating, who faked more than 2,000 by over 100 artists. Watching his old videos we get some insight on the techniques and processes of the old master painters.
Pretty interesting to here him describe each different process and watch him paint in the style of the old masters did. Not as good as the old masters, but in the same style. He never once mentions the way they designed their paintings, but he does admit that it is much easier to copy a painting because all of the hard compositional work is already completed.
I recommend watching them all if you get some time. Especially if you are interested in learning the techniques of Degas, Rembrandt, Constable, Titian, Turner, Manet, Renoir, Monet, and Cezanne. There are also episodes on Restoration and Impressionism. Enjoy!
